Chapter Eleven
Carey's P.O.V.

"Bye Mom, Bye dad...I'll be fine from here on out...i promise" I said as I kissed and hugged my parents goodbye. They were boarding another plane back to the states, and I was about to hop into a taxi to my grandparent's house. I waved as they boarded the gangplank and the plane, before picking up my small backpack and walking out to the street.

Since most of my things were on the plane when it crashed, I only had a few personal possessions that my parents brought with them to South Africa for me. I had a toothbrush, a wallet full of money, a few pairs of clothes and a prepaid cell phone...still wrapped in plastic. I walked up to an empty cab, the driver standing by the back, the trunk open. I only had one bag, so I just handed him a piece of paper with my grandparents address on it and hopped in the back seat. The driver closed the trunk, got in the drivers seat, and we took off. I was at their house in no longer than half an hour. I opened the door and gasped. It was BEAUTIFUL. In their neighborhood, every house seemed to be a mansion, with a gate out front, fresh cut healthy green grass in the front yard, and clean white sand in the backyard leading to the ocean. I could smell the scent of the ocean breeze against my face as I paid the cabbie and started towards the front door. I rang the bell and in a few seconds, the door was opened. I peered inside, expecting to see my grandparents..but instead, saw a middleaged women in a maid's outfit.

"OHHH!" she proclaimed excitedly, ushering me inside, "You must be Carey! I'm Louise...if you need anything, just let me know! Now you go into the study and say hello to your grandparents while I take your bag up to the guest room..okay?" I nodded, surprised that my grandparents had a maid. Then again, they were getting old.. I smiled and handed over my small backpack. "This is it?" she asked surprised. I shrugged and nodded, before heading down the hallway to my grandpa's study.

Danny's P.O.V.

"Man, will you stop staring at that piece of paper already and just CALL her!?" Harry yelled at me forcefully. We were all sitting around the kitchen table of our condo, and I had the piece of paper with Carey's grandparent's number in my hands. I frowned. Its not that i didnt want to call her..or that I wasnt PLANNING on calling her. I totally was...just not yet. It was too soon? Wasn't it? She's probably barely settled in yet! Lucky for Harry, Brianna's dad's house was only like 20 minutes away...in just the next town over.

I sighed and stood from the table, walking into my room. I flicked on the radio and popped in a mix cd of my favorites...the who, the boss, and the beatles. I flopped down on my bed, hoping for a nap to relieve my head from all this thinking....the paper still crumpled in my hand.

"Hey Danny.." Dougie knocked on our bedroom door. We were doubled up, him and me, and Tom and Harry. "Yeah?" I responded, as he opened the door and walked in. "I'm gonna go grocery shopping...we dont have anything to eat... you wanna come?" he asked. I sat up and frowned, thinking. "What about Tom and Harry?" I asked, wondering why they weren't going with Doug. "Harry's on the phone with Bri and Tom just went for a walk down the beach..." he replied. "Oh" I answered, as I climbed off the bed, slipped on some shoes and stuffed the crumpled piece of paper into my pocket. "Count me in then" I said, as I followed Dougie out into the main room, down the small hallway and out into the parking lot. As I cut through the main family room, I heard Harry on the phone in his room. I was jealous... he could talk to Bri so easily. I never found the right words when I talked to Carey....I always seemed to say something stupid.

The town we were staying in was so cute. We could get to just about ANYWHERE we needed to go within a 5 minute walk. We headed down the sidewalk towards the grocery store, making up a list as we went. "We need some orange juice.." Dougie pitched in. "Yeah! And some peanut butter, and bread too!" I added. "What about some beer?" Dougie asked. I giggled. "Is that even a serious question?" I responded sarcastically. We headed through the sliding automatic doors and grabbed a cart as we started around the supermarket.

Carey's P.O.V.

I guess you could say that my grandparents are well off....traditional...old school. You pick. My grandpa was sitting at his desk in the office reading from his newspaper and my grandma was looking through the large shelf of books on the wall. "Hi!" I squeaked at the door, with a slight knock. "CAREY!" my grandma rushed over to me and gave me a big hug. "We heard about the accident and were so worried! You're alright?" I smiled and hugged both grandparents, assuring them that I was okay.

Finally, after I gave them the whole rundown, my grandpa looked at his watch. "Well, dinners in half an hour...so how bout you go get cleaned up and settle yourself in. There's plenty to do around here, so after dinner you're free to walk the town or beach. Whatever you like, but I must insist your back in this house by 12 midnight EVERY night. Just so we dont worry about you." he said, smiling. I nodded and gave them one big hug again before rushing up the winding double staircase to the guest room.

I flopped on the king sized bed and spread out my limbs, taking in the scent of lavender that was burning from a few small candles around the large, white and purple room. My grandma   had this thing for incense, and ever since I was a baby, was always bringing me candles and scented incense sticks to burn, insisting it was calming. Maybe she was right, I felt right at home...relaxed and calm...almost like the past few weeks never happened. But truth is, they DID happen. And try as hard as I could, or as calm as I could get myself, I couldn't forget Danny. The thought of him made me happy, yet sad. My life was changed forever now that I knew him...yet, the most depressing thing in the world was having to leave him!

I stood up and walked to the bathroom, turning on the shower water for a quick shower before dinner. After all, I probably STUNK. My poor grandparents had to hug me...sweaty and sticky from the heat and sun. I lathered up the body wash, scrubbed my hair and scalp and towelled off, changing into a pair of jeans and a cami that my parents packed for me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After dinner, my grandparents went back to...well...whatever it is retired, wealthy grandparents DO. I wandered around the house for a few, before telling Louise I was gonna wander the town a little...maybe do some shopping. I grabbed my bag and headed down the sidewalk into town. There were a few giftshops and clothing stores, but nothing was catching my attention. Although, something better catch my attention SOON. I had NO CLOTHES. I walked into a department-like store, grabbed a cart and started throwing clothes in. Jeans, shorts, bathing suits, teeshirts, camis, flip flops. I needed everything..cuz I literally had next to nothing packed.

After throwing in some underware, socks, and a pair of sunglasses that were too cute to pass up, I headed for the check out line. Standing in line, I flipped through a stack of magazines by the register. "McFLY, Up Close and Personal" said one of the magazine headlines. Wait a minute! THATS DANNY ON THE COVER! AND HARRY! AND TOM! AND DOUGIE! I gasped excitedly, looking around to see if anyone noticed my surprise over my discovery. I grabbed a FEW magazines that either mentioned McFLY, or had them on the cover,   and tossed them into the cart, along with a cosmo girl...just for the hell of it.

The woman at the register packed my things into a few large, silver paper bags and I headed back for the house. When I got home, I met Louise in the foyer and told her I was back. She nodded and said she'd let my grandpa know. I headed up the stairs and to my room, unpacking my purchases and excitedly flipping through the magazine, anxious to learn more about the mysterious Danny Jones.

I flipped to the article about Danny, with a big close up picture of him in a blue buttondown with his straight hair in his face.   I hadn't seen him with straight hair since the first time i met him in the airport. Obviously, for the weeks we were stuck on the island there were no hair dryers or straighteners...and as much as I liked his hair wavy, i LOVED it straight. Man was he gorgeous. I read all about his first time, celebrity crushes, and supposide lack of confidence to 'pull' alot of girls...whatever that means. "Hm.." i remarked to myself, as I learned more about him, still wondering exactly what concert life was like.

I continued reading about the other boys, Tom..Harry and Dougie, before climbing under the heavy covers of the king size bed and flicking off the light...ready for a good night's rest.
