Chapter Nine
Carey's P.O.V.

"Ohhhh Dannyyyy" i complained as I flopped down onto the sand, "I cant walk anymoreeee" I whined, throwing my arm over my eyes to shade them from the setting sun. He laughed at me and sat down next to me. "Did you drink anything?" he asked. I suddenly remembered the waterbottle I had grabbed by Harry and Brianna and took it out of my pocket. (sh. It was a very large pocket. lol ).

I opened the cap and dumped half the bottle into my throat, downing it, before handing it to Danny. He took a sip and spit it out. "BLEECH" he shouted. "Thats saltwater!" I looked up at him, laughing. Was he serious? I drank it so fast, I didn't even notice the salty taste. I tasted it again, and YUP it was salt water. "Who the hell put sea water into a waterbottle?!!?" i shrieked. Suddenly however, my stomach began to do flips. Ohhhhh perfect. Sweaty, tired, and a belly full of sea water, I flopped my head back on the sand and moaned, feeling ill.
We sat on the sand for a few minutes until finally Danny started motioning to standing up. "Come onn.. we gotta keep going" he said. I shook my head and groaned, holding my stomach and head. I felt dizzy, queasy, and my muscles hurt. He laughed and before I knew it, he was pulling me into a sitting up position. "Come on, you can get on my back." he offered. I nodded and as he leaned down in front of me, I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his stomach, resting my head on his shoulder.

He started down the beach, and with every step, my head bumped up and down and I struggled not to throw up. Finally, we were getting close to camp when Danny stopped abruptly and gasped. "huh?" i responded, wondering what the hold up was. "It cant be" Danny said shocked. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed everyone standing up and rushing towards the water. I wondered what was going on, but was just too weak and tired to lift my head up off Danny's back to look. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, and he started walking, quite quickly, farther down the beach towards the commotion.

Harry's P.O.V.

I jumped up on my feet, waving and flailing my arms frantically..laughing in an almost borderline psychotic kinda way. I was just so happy. Brianna jumped to her feet too, in complete disbelief. I wrapped my arms around her stomach and lifted her up, swinging her around excitedly. I saw Danny walking down the beach towards us, Carey on his back.

"DANNNY! DANNY!" i exclaimed. "WERE RESCUED! THEY'VE FOUND US! LOOK ITS A HELICOPTER!!!" i shouted at the top of my lungs.

I couldn't believe it. Despite the bond I had created with Bri, being forced to survive on a deserted island with almost no one I knew..and i mean sure the weather was beautiful....but at this point, all i could think about was getting back to civilization. Showers. Toilets, SOAP. Ipods, mum's cooking... grocery shopping...instead of cracking open bananas or coconuts. Danny walked over to us, looking almost apathetic...which stunned me.

"Mate....arent you excited?" I asked curiously, half shrieking from my own exhilaration.
He just kind of stared back at me as he lifted Carey's arms over his head and placed her body down on the sand. Her eyes were closed and she was motionless.
"Dude....uh..what happened to her?" I asked, kind of worried something bad happened on their run. Danny scratched the back of his neck and looked up at the approaching helicopter. "I think she just passed out...over exertion, dehydration maybe...." he replied. As the helicopter landed, everyone rushed foward, thanking the people for finding us, asking all sorts of questions like 'howd you find us?', 'when are we leaving?' ...stuff like that.

Danny, Bri and I sat a little ways away.. watching over Carey. She stirred slightly but didnt wake up and one of the men from the helicopter asked if there was anyone injured or sick and someone pointed over towards us. Uh-oh.

"She was totally hallucinating the other day!" some guy chirped in as the helicopter man came over to take a look at Carey. Danny sat down in the sand next to her and held onto her hand tightly as he watched the approaching stranger. The man, probably in his late 30s, knelt down and took Carey's pulse, before deciding that she had to be evacuated to a hospital right away. "We have to go with her!" Brianna shouted as the man scooped her up and headed for the helicopter. I noticed Danny still hadn't let go of her hand. "There's not enough room in the helicopter for everyone...but we'll be sending a search and rescue squad immediately...to get you guys off this island. You can meet up at the hospital afterwards." he replied. I noticed he had a funny accent. "Hey man.." i started, he turned his attention towards me. "Where...are we?" I asked. He laughed, as if i should know. "Your a few miles off the south african coast." he replied, before turning and heading back to the noisy chopper.

Danny's P.O.V.

When we finally arrived at the helicopter, and I still had her hand in mine the helicopter pilot turned to me and raised his eyebrows...waiting for me to turn and let go. I frowned and studied Carey's features. "I have to stay with her..." i started. The man looked at me confused and shook his head. "If I made an exception for you, I'd have to let everyone on the beach into the helicopter and theres just not the room..." he started to reply.

I sighed and shook my head, biting my lip and looking back towards Harry and Bri, who were standing up with the rest of the crowd, onlooking. "No ..you dont understand. I CAN'T leave her. " I replied. The man seemed to understand and nodded half-heartedly, sighing. He motioned with his hand and I thanked him before hopping into the backseat of the helicopter, holding Carey across my lap and putting on a headset while both pilots jumped back into the front of the helicopter and we took off...leaving everyone else still on the beach. I knew Harry and Bri wanted to come too..but I knew they'd understand why I had to go with Carey..and atleast this way they know they wont be forgotten about and stranded.

I twisted a piece of her hair through my fingers as I stared out the window, as the helicopter flew through the sky and the island became smaller and smaller. Within 10 minutes, we were approaching the main land, the terrain very similiar to that of the island.

The helicopter landed on a hospital roof and immediately paramedics and doctors were rushing towards the copter as the propellers and blades began to slow to a stop. They were rushing around and started attaching iv's to her arms as they put her onto a stretcher and wheeled her away into the hospital. I looked on helplessly and followed along behind..feeling useless and worried. While I was sitting in the waiting room, hoping someone would come and let me know what was going on..i flipped through magazines, when suddenly the television in the corner caught my attention.

"Survivors of a terrible plane crash earlier this month, just off the coast of South Africa, have been found miraculously alive on a nearby island. The fact that many of these survivors were not injured is a miracle altogether. Passengers of the plane included the guitarist and drummer of a popular English band McFly. Fans will be happy to know they are both alive. Only one serious injury has been reported, of a young 18 year old girl on her way to spend summer vacation with her grandparents in Australia. The teenage girl was rushed to a nearby hospital and is being treated for severe dehydration." A newscaster reported. My mouth hung open, shocked at how fast all of the news made headlines. "Thank Goodness for that!" replied another newscaster. I was stunned, yet relieved. I couldn't believe we made it out alive. It was almost like something I NEVER expected to happen...so now that it had happened..that we were back in civilization...it seemed surreal.

I looked down at my dirty hands and decided to find a bathroom and get cleaned up. I found the mens room and was stunned by my reflection. I was thin...or well..thinNER. I was covered in dirt and sand and my teeshirt was filty and ragged. I laughed. I LOOKED like someone who might be stranded on a desert island for over 2 weeks. I washed my hands with the pink soap, then my arms and face and neck. When I was done, I took a large roll of papertowels and dried my face and arms off, walking back to the waiting room...my flipflops flipping..and flopping on the linoleum hospital tiles.

"Excuse me? Are you with Carey Bingham?" a young, petite blonde nurse asked me. I was caught off guard by her last name. I had never heard it before. I furrowed my eyebrows but nodded, and the nurse waved her hand for me to follow her. She led me into a room, with two hospital beds facing each other. One of the curtains was pulled though, so I didnt actually see the bed or the person in it. Carey was sitting in bed though, awake but looking completely exhausted. I smiled and thanked the nurse, walking over to the side of the bed and pulling up a chair. I grabbed her hand and kissed it softly. "How ya feeling?" I asked. She laughed and scratched her eyebrow, nervously. "I cant believe everyones making such a fuss over me. I'm totally FINE!" she giggled, her cheeks burning a slight pink. I shook my head smiling. "Dont be silly. You were unconscoius!" She shrugged.

Carey's P.O.V.

I sat in the hospital bed, nurses and doctors rushing in and around me..checking my heart, blood pressure, the iv in my arm. It was making me very on edge. Danny sat at the end of the bed, holding my hand and watching everyone as they came and went. I held my hospital gown tight to my body. Danny noticed and giggled, shaking his head. True...we'd already slept together..but it didnt mean I needed to be indecent. I felt my cheeks blushing and tried to pretend that the window was really entertaining.

Finally, after a few minutes, the visits from the nurses stopped. I guess they finally figured out that i was FINE. I swear, you cant take a fricken nap during a piggy back ride without being rushed to an emergency room. Danny stood and walked towards the top of the bed, motioning for me to move over a little. I smiled at the thought and scooted my butt over to the left side, as he climbed into the hospital bed on the right side, laying on top of the thin cotton blankets and putting his arm around my shoulders. I nuzzled myself into his chest and closed my eyes. I somehow managed to STILL be sleepy. Maybe its because these past two weeks i've been sleeping in mass amounts. The more I sleep, the more tired I seem to be. I wonder if i'll EVER get to Austrailia. Not that I mind sleeping like this, in Danny's arms in a hospital bed. I just wish I had some normal clothes..and not this breezy hospital gown with my tushie exposed in the back.

Danny's P.O.V.

Carey was soon drifting off to sleep, laying against my chest. With my free hand I turned the tv on, keeping the volume low..trying to see if their were any updates on the island survivors. Where they might have relocated the rest to, etc. A nurse came in and lifted Carey's chart off the end of the bed. She looked to be young, probably an intern or something.

"So were you the father?" she asked.

WHAT.
