We swam as hard and as fast as we could until the suction of the sinking plane had stopped. Harry, myself, and the two girls we were carrying were joined by only a few others- floating and swimming in the water. There were probably only about 20 of us total, out of a plane that carried almost 100. From a safe distance, we watched as the plane submerged completely, before turning our backs and swimming towards the only shore visible. It looked to be several miles away.
By the time we got to the shore of the beach, we all crawled up the sand, panting and choknig from exhaustion. I unbuckled my arm from the girl's who I saved, Carey, and leaned my ear to her chest..listening for a heartbeat or breathing. I could hear a heartbeat, but she didnt seem to be breathing...so I started CPR. After a few minutes, the girl began to cough, choking up salt water and gasping for breath.
Harry's P.O.V.
As we swam away from the wreckage, I felt the girl tremble in my arms. After a VERY long swim, which seemed to take forever, we made it to the beach and stretched out exhausted on the sand. Danny begin to give the girl he carried off the plane CPR and the girl who had her arms and legs wrapped around me hugged me tight, crying into my shoulder and kissed my cheek, grateful- introducing herself as Brianna. I smiled and returned my name. She then untangled herself and rushed over towards Danny, a worried expression on her face. I laid back against the sand for a minute and closed my eyes, in pain, exhaustion and shock. Not only did I just experience a plane crash firsthand, BUT I SURVIVED. I then crawled the few feet over to the previously unconscious girl, Carey- who Danny introduced me to on the plane, who was now coughing up sea water.
"Are you okay, Carey?" Brianna asked, leaning over her. The girl looked up at her, squinting..seeming confused. "Who are you?... where am i?" she said. Brianna furrowed her eyebrows, surprised and worried by Carey's lack of memory. "I'm Brianna.. I met you in New York at the airport. Thats Harry, and thats...." she said, pointing to Danny, who then joined in "I'm Danny" he said smiling. She leaned herself up on her elbows and looked around at all of us before examening the beach. "Where...?" she started.
"There was an accident Carey.." Danny started, afraid to upset her by shocking her too quickly. "Can you remember it..?" he asked, but she just shook her head. "You were on a plane... we were all on the plane...and it crashed into the ocean..." Danny said. Carey laughed, thinking he was kidding. But when all of our faces remained serious and solumn, her smile began to fade, sitting up and looking past us to the waves of the ocean. "Was... Was I with someone?" she asked. Danny and I both turned to Brianna, who started talking to Carey, stroking her back softly with her hand. "No hun, we were both traveling alone. Thats how I met you... you were going to visit your grandparents in Australia...is any of this ringing a bell?" She asked. Carey shook her head again. We continued sitting in silence, watching some of the other survivors wade onto the beach, along with boxes and luggages that floated in- carried by the tides.
Carey's P.O.V.
I woke up, coughing and choking up water that tasted terrible. When I rolled off my side onto my back, I was covered in sand and staring into the deep blue eyes of a BEAUTIFUL, brown haired boy..who happened to look incredibly worried. Within seconds, a brown haired girl came scurrying over. Her eyes were red and puffy and she had obviously been crying. They, including myself, were soaked to the skin. I just stared at them, confused, not able to form a sentence. I propped myself up on my elbows and looked around. I was at a beach.. a beach I had never seen before. Why wasn't I at home? How did I get here..and who are these people! They continued staring at me, and another one of them joined us- a brown, spikey-haired boy...also drenched. The girl leaned over me, "Are you okay, Carey?" she asked caringly. I liked the way she talked to me, her tone was gentle and caring...but I didn't know who she was, or how she knew my name? "Who are you?... where am i?" i said, looking to each of them for an answer.
"Where...?" I started, as I looked around the beach to several other people crawling out of the water onto the sand.
"I'm Brianna.. I met you in New York at the airport. Thats Harry, and thats...." the girl started, pointing to the beautiful boy I woke up to... "Danny" he said, finishing her sentence. He smiled at me, and I felt weak. "There was an accident Carey.." Danny started softly. I looked up at him, finding myself lost in his blue eyes.
"Can you remember it..?" he asked. I shook my head. "You were on a plane... we were all on the plane...and it crashed into the ocean..." Danny said. I laughed, 'what is he kidding!?' i thought. But when all of our faces remained serious and solumn, i felt the smile began fall from my face and sat up, looking past them to the ocean waves "Was... Was I with someone?" I asked, worried about my parents. Danny and Harry both turned to face Brianna, who started talking to me, her hand stroking my back comfortingly. "No hun, we were both traveling alone. Thats how I met you... you were going to visit your grandparents in Australia...is any of this ringing a bell?" She asked. I shook my head again, slightly discouraged. It was like being told a story about someone else's life. I didn't remember ANY of this. Last thing I remember was getting out of school for summer vacation and rushing home to my parents...who told me they had a summer surprise for me. I struggled to remember ANYTHING else...anything about the surprise, or what happened afterwards..but no such luck. We sat in silence and watched some of the others wade onto the beach, along with boxes and luggages that floated in- carried by the tides. The luggage kind of proved that these three young people COULDNT be lying... this really happened. But how did I not remember it?
"Why dont I remember?" I asked. Danny smiled and put a finger softly to my forehead. As soon as he made contact I pulled back and grimaced in pain, my forehead stinging. I touched it with my own fingers, and pulled them infront of my face to see that they were covered in red blood. "A piece of metal hit your head and knocked you unconscious. I carried you and swam to here to the beach before I gave you CPR and you woke back up." he said. My jaw dropped and I felt my cheeks burning. I bit my lip, trying not to grin too widely. Inside, I was screaming. HIS LIPS TOUCHED MINE!!!??? This was like a fairytale..and a gorgeous prince charming whisked me off my feet and carried me to safety before performing CPR. At the same time, I was absolutely mortified and slightly embarrased. For a minute I just stared back at Danny, whose cheek was sliced open and bleeding. Then, I tried desperately to find anything else on the beach to distract myself with, instead of staring back at the three young teenagers who seemed to be so concerned with me...one of which was completely breathtaking.
I stood up, stumbling a little as I struggled to find my balance before walking along the edge of the water to a group of boxes being pushed onto the sand by the waves. I picked a few up and moved them onto the drier land, so they would not be swept away by the tide, before sitting down indian style and opening them. There were some clothes, freeze dried food- like vegetables, fruit and meat, as well as some medical supplies- bandaids, antiseptic, ace bandages. I took out a bottle of anticeptic and a few bandaids as Danny approached me, sitting next to me on the sand. "You okay?" he asked sweetly. I smiled and nodded, "I think I will be..." I said before unscrewing the cap of the antiseptic and applying it to a cotton ball. I motioned for him to come closer. He scooted towards me and I placed the cotton ball against his cheek, which was stained with blood and red from irritance. He hissed at the sting and grimaced a little, making me giggle. Afterwards, I stretched a small bandaid across his cheek and pressed it softly. "Thank you..." I said finally, as I threw the cotton ball aside and stared up at him- his long brown curly hair blowing in the sea breeze. He smiled, "For what?"... I laughed at his modesty. "FOR SAVING ME" I joked, pushing his shoulder lightly. He smiled and chuckled, waving his hand at me, "Nah..no big deal..I couldn't let something as pretty as yourself drown...now COULD I!" he said. I felt my cheeks burning again, flattered.
He then grabbed a cotton ball out of the ziplock bag and put some of the anticeptic on, holding it up towards my forehead, motioning for me to come closer. I leaned in slightly and closed my eyes tight- preparing for the sting. I whined lightly well I felt it burning at my scalp, before I felt his cool breath easing the sting. I opened my eyes and just looked at him...amazed at his sincerity. He then put a bandaid over my forehead and kissed it lightly. "All better.." he giggled. I kept pinching myself...convinced that this must be a dream.
I started to pack all the med equipment back into the small knapsack it came from, avoiding his stare, which I felt burning on me. Afterwards, I stood, wiping the sand off my butt as Danny helped me grab the bags and boxes. Everyone else on the beach was doing the same, as loads of things floated onto the beach- pulling them farther onto shore. "What now?" one man asked, his hair receeding. I guessed he was probably about 35 years old. Everyone seemed to shrug and look around at each other. "Well..why dont we introduce ourselves...and say what we do?" said another lady. Everyone seemed to agree and people started introducing themselves. In our midst, we had a nurse, a chiropractor, a lawyer, a dental hygenist, an accountant, two businessmen, a professional dogwalker\groomer, as well as a farmer from Central America, and three college students. Then it was Dannys turn. "Hi" he said, waving at the crowd, "I'm Danny.. I'm from Bolton, England... I'm a guitarist and vocalist in a band called McFly.. im 20, and I was traveling with my bandmate Harry to Australia to meet up with our two OTHER band mates for a holiday." he said, catching me staring at him out of the corner of his eye and turning to me- smiling and giving a wink. "Hi, I'm the Harry fellow he referred to, I play drums in the band.. and also enjoy sports...also coming from England."
Brianna was next, "Hi..i'm Brianna. I'm 18 and I was flying to Australia to move in with my dad after my mom recently remarried this past May. I just graduated from highschool this spring as well, and was unemployed...so I dont really have any medical knowledge or anything that could POSSIBLY help us out in a situation like this." she laughed, trying to lighten the mood. I was next and everyone turned to me. "Uh..." i started, feeling nervous and intimidated. "I'm Carey.." i started. Gulp. "I'm from New York...and I woke up on the beach with three people standing over me...with no recollection of ANYTHING thats happened recently." I laughed nervously and all of the older adults raised their eyebrows, seeming concerned. The nurse then asked, "Are you feeling lightheaded or dizzy at all?" I was a little uncomfortable being the center of attention- as everyone turned to face me, awaiting my response. I shook my head, no- when in fact I felt a little lightheaded..but nothing too serious. She came over and took a pen-flashlight out of her pocket and told me to look straight, moving it across my face from by my ear to by my nose. "Well..your eyes are responding pretty well....so you should be fine.. You'll probably start to get your memories back in a couple of days.." she said, nodding. I chucked lightly, not sure whether to be thankful or offended by her aggressiveness.
After everyone introduced themselves, we organized the bags and boxes of clothes and supplies- for anyone to take whatever they needed- in moderation of course. Unfortunately, we only had a few dozen waterbottles collectively. Which meant we were sure to run out of fresh water within a few days. We salvaged what we had, agreeing to drink as little as possible to keep hydrated until we found a source of fresh water on the island somewhere, or until it rained, OR until we were rescued. Most of us rummaged through the suitcases looking for dry clothes- NONE of us succeeded, everything that had been in the suitcases was wet and sandy- so we strung up some rope between two trees and hung them up to dry in the wind and sun. Unfortunately, there werent any tents or canvases we could use to make a shelter, so when night fell.. everyone gathered around in groups, huddled around fires- fires lit by a lighter we stumbled upon in one suitcase.. a lighter that practically SAVED the day... or..well...the night.
I grabbed a sweatshirt off the clothes-rope and pulled it over my head, shivering cold. The sweatshirt was practically a gown on me. I made my way over to the only people who SEEMED to know who I was and sat down next to Danny, the cute one with the long brown hair. He smiled as I shivered, my teeth clanking together, and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. Why was he being so nice to me? Were people REALLY this nice..? It didn't seem probable...I sighed and leaned my head against his shoulder, pulling my knees up to my chest, leaning most of my weight into Danny's body. He didnt seem to mind... I was just trying to stop my mind from racing and just relax- I was exhausted..and cuddling with a stranger was far better than freezing alone.
I woke up in the late morning, the bright sunshine bright against my face. I stifled a yawn and rubbed my sleepy eyes open. I froze when my eyes opened however. I was cuddled up with the strange boy who saved me yesterday, his arm wrapped around my back..my nose in his chest. I turned my body around so i was laying on my stomach. Brianna was laying on the other side of me, her back facing me- a small blanket thrown over her body. I peeked over Danny's shoulder. He was still asleep- and Harry was on his other side, curled around one of the inflatable seat cusions. I sighed and lowered my head back onto the ground- onto a towel that had been placed under mine and Danny's heads, staring up at his sleeping face...admiring his features and freckles. I also noticed that he had a small silver hoop earing on his left ear, hiding behind his long hair. I smiled to myself and bit my lip, wondering and imaginging all the insides and outs of this stranger sleeping next to me, intrigued by his mysterious nature. I closed my eyes and burried my nose back into his chest, making myself comfortable.
Danny's P.O.V.
When I awoke the next morning, after a deadsleep, Harry and Brianna had already left our little spot on the beach and the sun was almost straight up- meaning...it was probably around 11ish. I tilted my chin down to look at Carey, still sleeping against me, her fingers wrapped loosely around the zipper of my sweatshirt, her nose close to my chest. My left arm was wrapped over her body, and I ran my left hand up her back to her head..running my fingers lightly through her hair.
She stirred and her eyes fluttered open shortly after. She yawned and stretched, before folding both her hands under her face and smiling up at me. "Morning love" i whispered. She giggled, "Morning Danny." I stretched- cracking my back and looking around for Harry and Brianna. Right as I did, they came walking out of the trees and bushes..their arms full of firewood. "HEY!" Harry called, "Look who finally decided to wake up" they both laughed. I shoved at him lightly and he laughed, dropping the stack of firewood by the slowly burning fire by our feet. Since the entire group of survivors only had ONE lighter, we thought it best to keep as many fires burning for as long as possible- and we'd have to come up with some kind of shelter for firewood so it wouldnt get wet and ruined if it rained...not to mention some kind of shelter for US. While the men began wripping off tree-branches and collecting big palm-tree leaves, the women gathered smaller chunks of tree for firewood and searched for anything we could eat....like coconuts, bananas and other kinds of fruit. Luckily, there were several bushels of bananas and a few coconuts as well... enough to keep us hydrated, should we run out of water.
Carey's P.O.V.
Brianna and I were walking out of the rainforest, bananas and coconuts, as well as some strange fruit I'd never seen before, in our arms. The guys were all around building any kind of shelter they could think of or construct, as we got closer, and I saw Danny shirtless...a smile crept onto my face as I watched every inch of his body. Brianna noticed me staring and elbowed me lightly, giggling at me. "Those English boys are pretty hot, huh?" she asked. I nodded and smiled, "Yesss they are. I woke up this morning...and I thought i was still dreaming" i said. She laughed and we continued walking. "I can tell you this... I wouldn't mind waking up in HARRY'S arms either..." I smiled and nodded. Harry was goodlooking, but Danny was stunning. I put down the fruit and placed my palm over my eyes, shading them from the sun as I watched him get along with the other men- making what looked like a log cabin. It had holes all over it though, and I didn't understand how it was going to be put all together..but as long as he's shirtless and gorgeous.. i dont care if he builds a birds nest...just so long as I get to watch him. Brianna and I sat down on the and and cracked open a few bananas...
